2 week workshop with the Collectif Zarmine

For 38 years, The Cinema Festival of Douarnenez (Brittany) has been highlighting the efforts of peoples struggling to preserve their culture and identity. The people of the Andes formed the theme of the 2015 edition.

With a view to marrying the interests of film and culture enthusiasts alike, the Zarmine collective transformed the main square into a Breton – Andean cabaret drawing visual inspiration from the lama’s woollen pom-poms, the vivid fabrics and bowler hats of the women of the Andes. It was in this context that I participated in the work of a volunteer group in construction and arts and craft matters.

1 week workshop with Hand of Yore

Baleapop is a young electro-music festival based in Saint-Jean-de-Luz in the French Basque country.

In its role of player in the promotion of Basque culture Baleapop’s input to the festival ranged from highlighting local food and drink production to the festival’s staging designed by the Basque designer Hand of Yore who uses re-cycled materials to create furniture.

During the voluntary week in question, under the supervision of Guillaume Valle (Hand of Yore), we designed per group benches and a sandwich cart from material which was donated from a neighbouring re-cycling centre.
